Watch those carbs!

This won’t come as a surprise to anyone who pays attention but little by little the medical community is reluctantly coming around to acknowledge that fats aren’t so bad and carbohydrates aren’t so good.

High Fat Diet Good, High-Carb Diet Deadly: “High carbohydrate intake was associated with higher risk of total mortality, whereas total fat and individual types of fat were related to lower total mortality. Total fat and types of fat were not associated with cardiovascular disease, myocardial infarction, or cardiovascular disease mortality, whereas saturated fat had an inverse association with stroke. Global dietary guidelines should be reconsidered in light of these findings.” – The Lancet

Once again, not just wrong but 100% wrong. Apparently the science isn’t settled after all.

Michelle’s Mirror has the updated information.

Indictments should follow.

Finally, after a long wait, we have the House Intelligence Committee memo detailing abuse by the FBI and Justice Department of the FISA process to spy on the campaign for President of the candidate of the opposing political party.  You will find the full text of the memo at this link.

Before getting to the memo itself, let’s go back to March 4, 2017.  That’s the day when new President Donald Trump issued a few of his most famous tweets, notably this one at 4:02 AM:

How low has President Obama gone to tapp my phones during the very sacred election process. This is Nixon/Watergate. Bad (or sick) guy!

The New York Times immediately reacted with outrage, in an article posted later that same morning with the headline “Trump, Offering No Evidence, Says Obama Tapped His Phones”:

Hearts of Darkness

“Donald Trump’s State of the Union address was perfectly pitched for the political moment. He spoke to and for the American people – for all Americans of whatever race, color or creed. He spoke for the poorest and most vulnerable among us, who are the chief victims of the Democrats’ determination to welcome millions upon millions of illegal aliens, who are mainly low wage laborers and who include predatory criminals, to pour into our country; to defy federal law with their “sanctuary” states and cities, and to effectively declare our border and immigration policies null and void. Trump did not use the word “sedition” to describe the law-breaking and Constitution-negating actions of his Democratic predecessor or the Democrats assembled in the chamber of the House. He provided instead an opening to them to abandon their “resistance” – resistance to the expressed will of the American voting public which has led to a relentless sabotage of the democratic process. In sum, he offered a hand to his Democratic haters, and they slapped it away.”

More on the crimes of transgenderism

Stuart Schneiderman:

“Beware the activists… they are coming for your freedom. For your freedom to speak and to think… your freedom to make up your own mind and to draw your own conclusions. And, of course, your freedom to consider the facts before deciding.

In Canada, the Canadian Broadcasting station, CBC was stopped from running a show about transgenderism. The show examined research showing that more than a majority of transgender children chose, upon arriving at adolescence, to revert to their biological gender. The activists were sorely offended, as rightly they should have been. If you are in the business of mutilating children on the basis of a belief—and transgenderism is nothing more than a belief without any grounding in biology—then you do not want to hear that you are conspiring to abuse children.”

Here.

Sub-optimal life choices

Stuart Schneiderman writes:

I have on occasion commented favorably about the advice offered by Washington Post columnist Carolyn Hax. I mention this so you know that I am fair and balanced. Yet, today, Hax does considerable damage to her reputation for clear-eyed judgment by her response to a woman who is unhappy about some of the life choices that her boyfriend’s daughter, Becca, is taking.

Becca, you see, is a woman of her time. While reading this excerpt from the letter, I would request, ever so politely, that you consider whether or not the behavior of an army of Beccas has anything to do with the proliferation of sexual harassment. For anyone who has reached the age of adult reason, Becca does not respect herself. She is hellbent on endangering her moral being and her life. Apparently, no one cares. Not only does Carolyn Hax not care; she is cheering Becca on.
